Above & Beyond are to be able to signpost you to different local organisations that will hopefully be able to offer advice, support through the many different obstacles that you may face through your diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Beezee Bodies helps individuals or families looking to manage/lose weight and make small, realistic changes towards living a healthier lifestyle in the context of a motivational, supportive environment. 

Biggleswade Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group Biggleswade & Surrounding Villages is a non-profit voluntary self help organisation.

 

The group is open to all individuals touched by any type of cancer, as well as their friends and families.  The group is formed to give everyone the support and strength to move forward together, rather than on your own.

 

 

Biggleswade Good Neighbour

Biggleswade Good Neighbours are a group of residents who volunteer their time to assist any resident of who does not have close family or friends to help with these tasks.

Biggleswade Talking Newspaper produce a free weekly MP3 Memory Stick version of ‘’The Biggleswade Chronicle’’ for the blind and visually impaired listeners.

Carers in Bedfordshire

Carers in Bedfordshire help family carers and former carers cope with the mental and physical stress arising from their role. 

 

They offer assistance such as practical help, advice, training, advocacy, support and information.

 

 

Chums Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Service for Children

CHUMS is a Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Service for children and young people in Bedfordshire. They support children who have been bereaved, traumatised or suffer with other mental health difficulties.

Headway Bedford

Headway Bedford provide a supportive and stimulating environment for people who have an acquired brain injury.along with support for their families and carers.

Ivel Sprinter Community Bus

The Ivel Sprinter is a Bedfordshire's community bus schemes.  It is designed to serve the Biggleswade and Sandy rural areas, providing all members of the public with a local service which enables them to make journeys that are not available with other commercial operators.

 

 

Link-a-Ride

Link-a-Ride provides a door to door transport service to people who reside in Central Bedfordshire, who cannot access a regular bus service through reasons of disability, old age or social exclusion.

Mind BLMK

Mind in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes offers a wide range of services that are tailored to meet the individual needs of people accessing support. This might include development of an action plan to work towards recovery using a range of options or simply enabling access to 1 to 1 support through counselling or mentoring.

They have local groups in Biggleswade and Sandy where you can  gain access to their support and services including activities ranging from cookery to creative writing.

Purple Trust

Purple trust offers fun and socialistation to anyone over the age of 50 living in Bedfordshire.

They have monthly 50s Clubs, a telephone helpline and a range of training courses.

Sight Concern Bedfordshire

Sight Concern (Bedfordshire) is an independent, local, sight-loss charity providing information, advice and practical support for blind and partially sighted people in Bedfordshire and Luton.

The Avenue for ASD Family Support

The Avenue holds relaxed, informal support groups in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Families can come and chat to other families who understand the highs and lows of living with a child with Autism.

 

Tibbs Dementia Foundation

Tibbs Dementia Foundation is a Registered Charity dedicated to providing a range of quality, accessible, creative & relevant support services, activities & opportunities for people living with all stages of dementia (or significant cognitive impairment) and their family carers & supporters within the local area.

Walk 4 Health Bedfordshire

Walk 4 Health Bedfordshires will help you to get fitter while meeting new people.

 

The weekly walks, organised by the Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) as part of a national scheme managed by The Ramblers, are free and open to all. They will be of special interest to those who do not currently take much exercise.

 

They usually last about 40 minutes. Led by local volunteers, people are encouraged to walk at their own pace, safe in the knowledge that they are walking with trained leaders, one of whom will remain at the back of the group with the slowest walkers.
