Terms of Reference //

 

1. Formation


The group is formally constituted on behalf of Saffron Health Partnership, who practice at The Health Centre, Saffron Road, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, SG18 8DJ.   The group is a non-political organisation.

 

2. Purpose and Aims of the Group

 

  • To give patients a voice in the provision of their healthcare by providing constructive feedback to the Practice on patients’ needs, concerns and interests whenever necessary.

 

  • To act as a forum to discuss developments at the Practice and to support and influence outcomes to the benefit of patients.

 

  • To encourage and support the activities of the Practice and to promote good health.

 

  • To communicate information about the Practice to the community it serves.

 

  • To liaise with other local Patient Participation Groups.

 

  • To work closely with the Virtual Patient Group run by the Practice.

 

 

3. Membership

 

  • Membership of the group is comprised of patients of the Practice and the Practice Manager and is supported by other key staff as required.

 

  • Any doctor of the Practice is entitled to attend meetings of the Group.

 

  • The group will annually elect a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary from its membership.   

 

  • Members must remain actively involved and show mutual respect to other members of the group.

 

  • Any member who does not attend three meetings per annum without submitting apologies will be consider no longer to be a member of the group.

 

  • Group members should conduct themselves in a manner which maintains the integrity of the Group and its standing in the community, the NHS and other bodies with which they communicate.

 

  • If a member is disruptive or uncooperative within the group, they may be asked to resign by the chairperson or the vice chairperson after consultation with the group.

 

  • Members should not use their Group status to gain media or other attention to further their personal, organisational, commercial or party political interests.

 

 

4. Meetings

 

  • Meetings will be held monthly or at other intervals to be agreed.

 

  • The Chair or Vice Chair of the Group or the Practice Manager will run the meetings.

 

  • The Secretary will take minutes of each meeting and these will be distributed to all members of the group and a summary displayed on the notice board in the surgery and on the practice web site.

 

  • All members are equally important and all views and opinions will be both heard and respected. Racism and discrimination will not be tolerated

 

  • The group will hold an Annual General Meeting.

 

5. Quorum

 

Meetings will be quorate if 60% of the patient membership of the PPG is in attendance.   A meeting that is not quorate may continue but no decisions may be made without reference back to the membership.

 

6. Review of Terms of Reference

 

The Terms of Reference for the Group will be reviewed annually.
